Benefits of Having a Technician

If you are a “Do-It-Yourselfer,” consider that ordering and installing parts in coin operated equipment is like car parts. If you are not comfortable with the process, you will need to work with a service professional.

Hiring a technician (teleconference or local) is always recommended if you have any questions about a project. The technician will know how to troubleshoot the machine to ensure it can be updated and advise you on which parts to order. When the brand-new or refurbished electronic component, card reader, or refrigeration system is received, the tech will know to perform a “component acceptance test” before installing it. A qualified technician will have the equipment for proper pretesting and the software needed to update the host machine. This is very important. If the component fails the acceptance test, we can help. If it passes the acceptance test but then does not work in the machine, you will know the issue is the host machine and your technician can repair it for you. If the machine was not tested/researched for an update before ordering the part your technician is going to have a harder time resolving the issue.

Installing car parts such as air filters, lamps, or wiper blades are basic repairs. Only limited damage can occur if the installation instructions are not followed. The installation of some vending parts such as replacement LED strips, coin changers. and bill acceptors are also basic repairs.

Car parts such as electronic modules, sensors, and refrigeration systems require more experience and should be performed by a service professional. Vending parts such as control boards, update kits, and software updates also require more experience. For these and other more advanced parts, a technician should be hired to install them.

Ideally, you already have a tech and should continue working with them if you are unfamiliar with the part installation. Fortunately, technology has made it possible to work with a repair professional remotely via video call apps such as FaceTime. Locating a service professional is as simple as a web search.

An additional benefit of working with a technician is having them order parts on your behalf to repair your machine. Electronic parts are non-returnable so having the technician order the parts will eliminates the chance of buying a part that is not required.

Clarify with your technician that he/she always updates the service records for the machine. In the event you need to work with another technician in the future, these records will help another technician quickly diagnose and repair your machine. This will save you time and money.
